![]() In terms of mechanics, the most important of these include a much better balance of individual classes, abilities, weapons and items, improved artificial intelligence of enemies and companions, increased inventory capacity and improved loot collection. The strength and power of the hero is of course also influenced by the equipment acquired during the journey, which consists of about a thousand elements of weapons, armor and magical items.Īs assured by the developers, compared to the original version of the game from 2006, the refreshed Titan Quest contains well over 1,000 changes. As you progress through the game, the hero you control gains experience and advances in levels, gradually developing his physical and magical abilities. During the game our protagonist travels across the lands, visiting many mythical places such as the Parthenon, the Pyramids of Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon or the Great Wall of China. To play the game we create our own hero, choosing from an impressive number of 28 character classes, varying in appearance, skills and fighting style. In terms of mechanics, Titan Quest is a classic representative of the hack-and-slash action RPG genre, popularized in the late 90s by the legendary Diablo. Immortal Throne expands the storyline of the base game with a new story campaign in which our protagonist travels through the dark and sinister underworld of Hades, facing the greatest villains of Greek mythology. In the game you play as one of the heroes, who at the request of the gods undertake a journey through the ancient world to find a way to capture the titans again. Many years after the titans were defeated and imprisoned by the gods, they manage to escape from their prison and along with them a host of various monsters appear on Earth, spreading fear and destruction. The story of Titan Quest is set in ancient times and is based on themes taken from the mythology of Greece, Egypt, Babylon and China. Ten years later its creators from Iron Lore studio along with THQ Nordic (formerly Nordic Games), which acquired the rights to the brand after the collapse of THQ, prepared a special, improved edition. The original production was released in 2006 and, alongside such titles as Sacred, was considered one of the most successful "devil-like" games. We suspect it’ll come to consoles but there’s no news on that as yet.Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition (or Titan Quest: Console Edition) is a refreshed edition of the classic hack'n'slash game Titan Quest released on PC, Switch, etc., along with the official Immortal Throne expansion pack. We doubt the monsters are going to care but we’re not huge fans of mismatched armour, even if it is our ass-kicking outfit. There are fifteen side quests as well as four main acts, but it’s the new armour that sounds particularly cool. It mines Eastern and Egyptian mythology to deliver over thirty new enemies and several new locations. So what’s going with Eternal Embers, the fourth expansion for the game? Apart from the obvious Bangles jokes, that is. ![]() True, we weren’t exactly blown away by Titan Quest when we reviewed the PS4 version, but THQ and developers Iron Lore must feel there’s enough interest to keep the series alive. We can think of quite a few long-running franchises, we’re looking at you, FIFA, where releasing an expansion pack instead of a whole new game would be more appropriate. Titan Quest launched back in 2006, on the PC, but eventually made its way to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android and iOS platforms. It’s a bit of a surprising announcement, though not as surprising as Titan Quest: Ragnarök, which arrived ten years after the last expansion pack. Titan Quest: Eternal Embers is a new expansion for the mythology-based action-RPG and it’s out now on PC.
